Where Children and parents can discuss their thinking, ideas and the world!
We have been reading many books about winter. Here are two of our favorite titles: The Snowy Day by Ezra Jack Keats, Snowballs by Lois Ehlert. We had a powerful snowstorm. Have you been outside to feel the snow? What have you done to enjoy it? Here are some pictures about what I did after the storm. Guess who is with me and tell me what you think I will do next. Post your comment. Describe what I am doing now. Do you remember the book we read about a character who played in the snow? Tell me about it. Look at the snow and describe what you see. Who else is in the picture? Do you think he enjoys the snow? Post your answers. Guess what my daughter and her friends built with snow shovels and lots of hard work! It is really pretty inside and outside. Imagine you can go inside the igloo. Tell us what you would do. Post your answer. I visited this place in the fall. It is one of my favorite places to go for walks and observe nature. Take a look at the fall blog posts and you will find out where I am.

We want to share some the work we have been doing with you. Here are two examples. Please discuss these with your child and write your comments on our blog. We read Snowballs by Lois Ehlert and made different members of a snowfamily. Here are two examples. We also discussed different things we can use to make them. You can see a list of things we need on our "wordles". Discuss with your child what kind of snowfamily you can make together. Write a comment to share your family and the things you would use. We have been reading two books by author Mo Willems, Knuffle Bunny and Knuffle Bunny Too. Click on the image to learn about the book on Amazon. Trixie and her stuffed animal, Knuffle Bunny have been teaching us about how characters can be described from the outside (externally) and from the inside (internally). We have been drawing Trixie, writing about her and discussing how much she reminds us of ourselves. Please have your child tell you about Trixie externally and internally. Have him or her retell you the two stories we have read. Then post their comments on the blog. |
